Almost half of all Israeli exports are produced by hi-tech companies. They make up more than 11% of GDP which is the highest (on a par with the USA) among leading industrial countries. Michael Zinigrad, Rector of Ariel University, will give a public lecture at HSE on the 29th October about how Israel has produced stunning results in commercialising academic research.

HSE Extreme Sports Club is inviting students, lecturers, alumni and their friends to spend their New Year holiday (January 2-9) at Gudauri, one of the best ski resorts in Georgia. Registration is open until December 5.

In October 2015, the Museum of Moscow will exhibit a unique collection of images of pre-revolutionary Moscow from Sergey Chelnokov’s archive, available for the first time for the general public. Most of the photos were made using the then-unique technique of ‘stereo-pairs’, which require the images to be viewed through a special device, creating a 3D picture. Applications are open until 20 June for participation in the tourist trip along Karelia’s rivers, planned by the HSE’s Extreme Sports Club. The expedition is set for July 3-12. HSE’s Extreme Sports student club offers students, teachers and employees at HSE, and their friends, the opportunity to take part in a series of spring and summer trips. Trips on offer include: hiking through Crimea and Abkhazia, climbing Europe’s tallest mountain – Mt. Elbrus, an expedition to the Sayan Mountains and a surf camp in Portugal.

HSE MIEM tourist club invites international students, lecturers and researchers to participate in a trekking trip to Russian South (Western Caucasus, near Sochi). The trip will last 12 days, from  April 30 to May 12 . This is going to be a moderately easy trekking route to Gora Oshten. To take part in this trip, one doesn’t have to be a wilderness survival expert. Nevertheless, basic preparation and equipment to ensure safe trekking are required.
