Presenting Academic Achievements: XVI April International Academic Conference

XVI April International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development  is a signature academic event for Higher School of Economics, and always attracts many participants from Russia and abroad. More than 2000 participants – international and domestic scholars, PhD and graduate students, NGO and think tanks members - registered for the April Conference this year, and attended its sessions during the four days of April 7-10. The HSE Look covers the major presentations from the plenary session.

The March Issue of HSE Look

The 20th issue of The HSE Look is dedicated to  the Faculty of Humanities launched at HSE in December 2014. The Dean,  Professor Alexey Rutkevich, discussed the new opportunities and challenges connected with the foundation of this large faculty. Vladimir Unkovski-Korica, an Assistant Professor at the School of History, presents his monograph 'The Economic Struggle for Power in Tito’s Yugoslavia: from World war II to Non-Alignment'. The 'Welcome Aboard' section features an interview with Nadia Moro, an Assistant Professor at the School of Philosophy, who began working at HSE in September 2014.

The HSE Look welcomes aboard Nadia Moro, Assistant Professor at the School of Philosophy. Empiricism, epistemology and realism in the nineteenth-century science and philosophy (Herbart, Lotze, Helmholtz, Stumpf, Wundt), and music theory are among her scientific interests.

Vladimir Unkovski-Korica, an Assistant Professor in History, is completing his monograph The Economic Struggle for Power in Tito’s Yugoslavia: From World War II to Non-Alignment. It is in the process of being published by I.B. Tauris. The HSE Look talked to Unkovski-Korica about his topic and the highs and lows of the writing process.

The Faculty of Humanities: Liberal Arts United

The 20th issue of The HSE Look is devoted to the Faculty of Humanities, another big department formed in the course of the university-wide structural reorganization, launched at HSE in December 2014. We talked to the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Professor Alexey Rutkevich. He discussed the new opportunities and challenges connected with the foundation of this large faculty and the general situation concerning liberal arts education in Russia.

Research at HSE: The Power of Collaboration

The HSE Look has begun a series of articles on research life at HSE. The new issue that came out today focuses on cooperative efforts in research and gives several detailed examples of joint work at our university. We will start with the International Laboratory for Applied Network Research who share their experience of starting up a research unit and successfully collaborating with colleagues and students.
