A number of new projects will form the basis of the educational and scholarly activity at HSE’s School of Philology. These projects will allow the School to expand its scholarly breadth, consolidate its active research teams, and engage new colleagues in collaboration. HSE News Service spoke with School Head Evgeny Kazartsev about the new projects, their anticipated outcomes, and what changes will need to be made in order to bring them to fruition.

Early this summer, the HSE community was surprised to learn about its newest colleague: a robot helper named Isaac tasked with recording and scoring the publications by researchers and faculty. Isaac is constantly learning to improve its algorithms and interface, and now that it’s learned English, we are happy to share with The HSE Look readers the exclusive interview with Isaac taken by Okna Rosta, where he talks about his functions and even offers some words of advice.

A series of lectures in English will be delivered by HSE faculty members at the ‘Socket and Coffee’ co-working space. The project offers its participants an opportunity to learn more about the most recent research findings and practice their English at the same time. The lectures start on February 28, 2017.

Online orders for a wide range of printed products, from business cards to large-scale blueprints, photo books or calendars, are now available on the HSE Printing House website (currently in Russian). You can order and pay online, and collect your order at any one of nine offices located in various HSE buildings. These printing services are available not only to HSE students and staff, but to anyone.

In its 28th issue The HSE Look presents the Faculty of Communications, Media and Design through interviews with its Deputy Deans and Professors. With the end of the academic year comes the time of HSE Best Teacher Award, and we are glad to share the new procedures and tips from awardees of previous years with the English-speaking readers. Summertime is ahead,but it is already time to make plans for the fall - we present the upcoming short-term visits of guest scholars to HSE and an opportunity to give a short public lecture at HSE Day in September.
