On September 22 'Living and Working in Russia' workshop welcomed new international faculty members to HSE.
HSE bulletin Okna Rosta took an interview with Professor Andrei Yakovlev, Director of the HSE Institute for Industrial and Market Studies and member of the Programme Committee of the April Conference on Economic and Social Development, about the origins of the conference and how it changed and expanded over the years. On April 12, Professor Hermann Dülmer of the Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg delivered a special lecture at the Higher School of Economics entitled 'Modernization, Culture, and Moral Change in Europe: From Universalism to Contextualism' within the framework of the 7th LCSR International Workshop on Subjective Well-being and Growing Inequality. An expert in sociology and social psychology, he spoke with the HSE News Service about his research interests and his ongoing cooperation with HSE.
In December 2015, leading international academic Ronald Suny chaired a seminar at HSE St Petersburg on Imperial Transformations – Russian, Soviet and Post-Soviet History, which was part of the international research project Comparative Historical Studies of Empire and Nationalism.
The 5th annual LCSR conference was organized from 15th - 21st November at HSE. One of the keynote speakers at the conference on Cultural and Economic Changes under Cross-national Perspective is the Director of the Social and Economic Survey Research Institute at Qatar University, Darwish Al Emadi. Dr. Al Emadi’s talk was on The Challenges of Surveying in Countries with Unorthodox Population Pyramids. He spoke to HSE English News about his long term goal to improve education on a global level and about his cooperation with HSE.
Angel Barajas, Academic Superisor of the International Laboratory of Intangible-driven Economy, Professor at the University of Vigo, and research fellows of the laboratory Dennis Coates, Professor at the University of Maryland, Marina Zavertiaeva and Petr Parshakov took part in the 7th European Sport Economics Association Conference on Sport Economics that was held on August 27-28 in Zurich.
This semester Olga Matyash, Adjunct Professor at Ivy Tech State College (Indiana, USA), has been a visiting scholar at HSE, teaching courses on interpersonal communication and public speaking at the HSESchool of Integrated Communications (Faculty of Communications, Media and Design). Professor Matyash agreed to speak with the HSE news service to share the secrets of successful public speaking and shed light on the role of communication studies in our life.
On March 14, 2014, the HSE is running a workshop ‘Biology and Behaviour in a Political Economy’. John Nye, Academic Supervisor at the International Laboratory for Institutional Analysis of Economic Reforms, HSE which is organising the workshop, spoke to the HSE English-language News Portal about working at the HSE in this research area.
The First International ‘Russia Longitudinal Monitoring Survey of HSE’ User Conference will be held in Moscow on May, 17-18th. Fabian Slonimczyk, Assistant Professor, International College of Economics and Finance, Faculty of Economics HSE gave a special interview to the HSE news service about the conference.
