On March 11, 2017, HSE will host the ‘Heroes Among Us’ charity festival. The month leading up to it is Good Deed Month, organized by the Open Your Eyes student project. People are encouraged to use this month to do good. Check out the ideas below – having a big positive impact doesn’t always mean putting a lot of effort in.

In its 29 th issue The HSE Look presents the Faculty of Law through an interview with its Dean, Prof. Evgeny Salygin, as well as introduces new tenure-track international faculty. As usual, the issue provides short announcements about Visiting Scholars, and an interview with one of them – a Fulbright Distinguished Scholar in Sustainable Development, Prof. David Wirth.
On October 20-30, the VI International Film Festival of Science and Technology 360° will take place in Moscow. The festival’s programme is comprised exclusively of documentaries relating to science, technology, and new ideas on the world and society. HSE has partnered with the festival several times in the past, organising lecture series and holding discussions on the exciting films screened at the event. And this festival, which is being organised for the sixth time already, will not be an exception.
This year’s NAUKA 0+ festival aims to turn science into something anyone can grasp. At the festival, various laboratories and universities open their doors to anyone and everyone with an interest in science and research. What will people learn about HSE at the festival? On September 27, the 6th International Festival of Audiovisual Anthropology ‘Days of Ethnographic Cinema’ starts at the Museum of Moscow. Our guide will show you why not only professionals should go to this event and what’s remarkable about its programme.
Students from more than 20 countries and almost 200 international staff members currently study and work at HSE. With this in mind, HSE Day in Gorky Park will offer a platform for intercultural communication in the most varied of fields, from music to breaking stereotypes about certain countries and cultures. Here, international students will take the lead, and you’ll be able to learn about various cultures first-hand.
In December, HSE is holding Gifts of Kindness Days in the lead up to the New Year’s holiday. It’s an opportunity for HSE colleagues and students and friends of the university to bring some New Year’s cheer to those in need of help and support.
In October 2015, the Museum of Moscow will exhibit a unique collection of images of pre-revolutionary Moscow from Sergey Chelnokov’s archive, available for the first time for the general public. Most of the photos were made using the then-unique technique of ‘stereo-pairs’, which require the images to be viewed through a special device, creating a 3D picture. A series of lectures ‘Photography and Cultural Memory’ will run alongside the exhibition.
On September 23, the new season of Professors' Wednesdays concerts will open in the newly renovated Professors' Club at HSE. The first to perform before audiences will be Elena Revich (violin) and Sergei Kuznetsov (piano). However, this year's programme will not stop with music.
On the 9th of September the fourth HSE Day went ahead in Gorky Park. It began with an event for parents of aspiring young university applicants and ended with a student initiation for first years and a concert by the rock band Splean.
