Within its “University Open to the City” project HSE holds many different lectures and discussions at various city venues, such as Moscow museums and Cultural Centre ZIL. Following the successful experience of HSE Open Talks lectures at HSE Day in September for the last three years (see The HSE Look October 2015, September 2014), the university launched a regular English-speaking series of public lectures HSE Talks, held at a coworking café. From February to April five speakers from the Faculty of Social Sciences gave their public talks, and The HSE Look talked to one of them, Assistant Professor Ekim Arbatli,to learn more about the impressions from participation in the project.
HSE bulletin Okna Rosta took an interview with Professor Andrei Yakovlev, Director of the HSE Institute for Industrial and Market Studies and member of the Programme Committee of the April Conference on Economic and Social Development, about the origins of the conference and how it changed and expanded over the years. The HSE Look is glad to present the summarized translation of the interview to its readers.
Joint efforts tend to bring better and more interesting results: that’s why the School of Philosophy has launched its Colloquium meetings where HSE faculty (both internationally and locally recruited) and visiting scholars will be presenting and discussing their research. The events are open to everyone, and the first talk, devoted to a popular for February topic of love, gathered faculty and students alike.
In its 27th issue The HSE Look presents the work of the Scientometrics Centre and how research results are measured at HSE. We also continue the tradition of interviews with international faculty and visiting scholars: five of them talk about their research and teaching projects in Moscow, Perm and Nizhniy Novgorod, and guests and speakers from the April Conference share their impressions of HSE’s flagship conference.
In its 24th issue The HSE Look introduces the readers to the Faculty of Business and Management, to The Foresight Centre and to the new international faculty and visiting scholars. It also provides a guide to mid-term grading and covers the highlights of HSE Day and HSE’s international positioning efforts.
