The September edition gives an overview of the important changes and new projects taking place this academic year. The editors also begin introducing faculty that has recently joined HSE. New international professors and postdoctoral fellows speak here about their plans for the coming year.

12 HSE Professors Awarded Tenure

On September 26 twelve HSE faculty members were promoted to Tenured Professors at the meeting of the Academic Council of the Higher School of Economics.

‘I Feel Right at Home in Russia’

HSE’s Nizhny Novgorod campus has a new professor. Invited Professor Rajarshi Mitra teaches advanced microeconomics to master’s and Ph.D. students, as well as time series analysis and the academic seminar ‘Econometric Analysis and Modeling in Economics and Finance.’ Professor Mitra comes to the HSE from India, though he has many years of experience working and teaching in the West.

When Science Meets Art: Stochastic Analysis and Classical Music

In February-March 2014, the HSE launched six new international laboratories following a tender of three-year projects under the supervision of leading international researchers. One of the projects is the Laboratory of Stochastic Analysis and its Applications.

Faculty of History at the HSE in St. Petersburg Partners with DAAD

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has approved an application to create a long-term associate professorship at the HSE Faculty of History in St. Petersburg. Dr. Dietmar Wulff will hold this position.

A Busy and Productive Year

Dr. Eren Arbatli, Assistant Professor at the Department of Theoretical Economics at the HSE Faculty of Economics, joined the HSE after finishing a PhD programme at Brown University (USA) in 2013. Eren's spouse and co-author, Dr. Ekim Arbatli, is Assistant Professor at HSE's Faculty of Politics. The HSE LooKspoke to Dr. Arbatli about his current and planned research.

Kyeong Hun Lee, a New Lecturer at the HSE ICEF and the Faculty of Economics

From September 2014, Assistant Professor Kyeong Hun Lee will start teaching at the HSE ICEF and the Faculty of Economics. He is a young lecturer, who has joined the HSE as part of the international recruitment programme.
