On January 26, Israel Marques, Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the HSE International Centre for the Study of Institutions and Development, delivered a lecture at HSE St. Petersburg entitled ‘Institutional Qualities and Individual Preferences in Social Policy’. Following the lecture, he agreed to speak with the HSE news service about his research interests, his time at HSE and his experience living and working in Russia.
Tadamasa Sawada is a specialist in the psychology of visual perception at HSE. He has recently talked to the online magazine The Village about everyday Moscow, cultural differences, and doing research in Russia.

Social scientist, Assistant Professor at the School of Political Science in HSE Faculty of Social Sciences, Michael Rochlitz uses photography as a way of looking at people in contrast to studying them at his desk. An exhibition of his photographs taken in many different countries including North Korea opened on December 10 on the 4th Floor (British 3rd) at 9/11 Myasnitskaya Ulitsa.

Bruno Bauwens, an expert in Kolmogorov complexity, is a new recruit at the HSE Faculty of Computer Science. He started in September 2015. Bruno received his PhD from Ghent University in Belgium, after which he held postdoctoral fellowships at Porto University (Portugal), as well as at the University of Montpellier and University of Lorraine.
Dr. Angelina Lucento is a Research Fellow at HSE International Center for the History and Sociology of World War II and Its Consequences. Her work focusses on art and war. In this interview with HSE English News she explains how family history brought her to research WWII and Russian culture and tells us why Moscow suits her so well for living and working as an international academic in her field.
