In its 34th issue The HSE Look presents HSE campus in St. Petersburg in an interview with its Director Sergey Kadochnikovand with DAAD long-term Associate Professor at the School of History, Dietmar Wulff. As per tradition, The HSE Look gives brief introductions of the new tenure-track faculty who joined HSE this September. In this issue we are also launching a new feature: a column ‘Discovering HSE and Russia’ written by international faculty for their colleagues so as to help them explore the rich cultural and geographical variety offered by Russian cities. HSE Publishing House is now accepting applications from HSE staff for the publication of copyright books on a competitive basis.
On September 12-15, HSE took part in the 29th Annual Conference of the European Association of International Education, which was held this year in Seville, Spain. As a part of Study in Russia, a joint exhibition pavilion organized by the Russian Academic Excellence Project 5-100, HSE held over 90 meetings with current and potential partners to discuss student mobility and other cooperation opportunities.
From September 11-16, Giuseppe Arbia, Professor of Economic Statistics at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Rome, visited the HSE Faculty of Economic Sciences in Moscow to deliver a series of lectures on Spatial Econometrics.
On September 14, the Higher School of Economics is again welcoming guests at Moscow’s Gorky Park to celebrate HSE Day – an extraordinary event that has become a tradition of citywide proportions. HSE Day has a lot to offer for everyone and is open to international students and faculty members.
In deciding to join HSE as a post-doc fellow in the Center for Institutional Studies), François Guillemin sought to combine a sense of adventure with a post-doctoral experience that would allow him to continue his research in the field of banking regulation. HSE ended up on the top of his list, and he accepted an offer to start this September.
On September 1, 2017, Sean Winkler joined the School of Philosophy as a research fellow for one year. Originally from Chino Hills, California, he holds an undergraduate and Master’s degree in philosophy from Loyola Marymount University (Los Angeles, California), as well as a Master’s degree and PhD from KU Leuven (Leuven, Belgium).
