From Turkey to Moscow by Way of Prague

Levent Çelik recently joined the Higher School of Economics as Assistant Professor of Economics. Before arriving at the HSE, he was Assistant Professor of Economics at CERGE-EI in Prague from 2006 to 2014. Professor Çelik’s research interests include industrial organization (with a focus on information disclosure, advertising, product differentiation and consumer search), international trade, and political economy. He received a B.A. in Economics at Boğaziçi University in 2000, and an M.A. in 2002. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics, which he received at the University of Virginia in 2007.

Dr. Dina Balalaeva, who will begin a tenure-track position at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the HSE in September, recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the HSE. She received her PhD in Political Science at the State University of New York at Binghamton in 2013. rom August 1-5, the Academy of Management h­eld its 74th Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (USA). The Annual Meeting is the premier conference for more than 10,000 academics, and professionals in the scholarly management and organization field. This year it was attended by a delegation of eight representatives from the Higher School of Economics.

When Science Meets Art: Stochastic Analysis and Classical Music

In February-March 2014, the HSE launched six new international laboratories following a tender of three-year projects under the supervision of leading international researchers. One of the projects is the Laboratory of Stochastic Analysis and its Applications.

Faculty of History at the HSE in St. Petersburg Partners with DAAD

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has approved an application to create a long-term associate professorship at the HSE Faculty of History in St. Petersburg. Dr. Dietmar Wulff will hold this position.
