XVI April International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development is a signature academic event for Higher School of Economics, and always attracts many participants from Russia and abroad. More than 2000 participants – international and domestic scholars, PhD and graduate students, NGO and think tanks members - registered for the April Conference this year, and attended its sessions during the four days of April 7-10. The HSE Look covers the major presentations from the plenary session.

Arie Y. Lewin, is Professor of Strategy and International Business at Duke University Fuqua School of Business and for the past 18 years has been the Director of The Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER). He gave an honorary lecture on ‘Dynamics of Online Marketplaces for STEM Talent: Innovation 2.0’ on the third day of theApril Conference and spoke to HSE News service about his impressions of the conference, emerging economies marketing trends and other perspectives.
On April 13-17, the HSE Public Policy Department will host a series of lectures by Professor Philippe Zittoun, an internationally recognized expert in policymaking and policy research. He is currently Research Professor in Political Science, University of Lyon (LET-ENTPE); Research Fellow at PACTE, Science Po Grenoble; and Vice-Chair of the Research Committee "Public Policy and Administration" of IPSA. He was a Visiting Professor at Yale University in 2010.In preparation for his upcoming lecture series at HSE, Professor Zittoun agreed to speak with the HSE news service about his research interests and his views on modern-day policymakers.

As HSE’s XVI April International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Developmentdraws to a close on April 10, international participants comment on their experience and share their impressions.
Professor Wesley J. Johnston from Georgia State University, College of Business is a keynote speaker at the April Conference seminar Contemporary Management Research in Emerging Markets. He is a Member of the HSE Council and has been collaborating on projects since 2011 with Olga Tretyak, Academic Supervisor at the Faculty of Management Research and Study Group for Russian Marketing Studies 'Modern Marketing Practices'. During a break at the conference Professor Johnston talked to HSE English News service about the benefits for PhD students of participating in conferences, about the functions of marketing and marketing in Russia and about his fruitful cooperation with HSE.
The second day of the XVI April International Academic Conference was devoted to sections on various topical economic, political and sociological issues. Questions related to international trade, economic growth, poverty and prosperity, urban economics, social capital and mobility, political regimes were discussed.
