Useful Tips for International Students from HSE Faculty

HSE News Service has asked some of our teachers at HSE for any advice they might have for international students in Moscow. Arkaja Chakraverty and Renira Rampazzo Gambarato agreed to share their secrets. Ms Chakraverty, from India, is Assistant Professor at the International College of Economics and Finance and moved to Moscow in 2017. Dr Bambarato, from Brazil, is Assistant Professor at the Department of Media, Faculty of Communications, Media and Design and has been working at HSE since 2013.

'Other Cities' Book Available for Hospice Donation
On its 25th anniversary, HSE has published a book - Other Cities - a collection of stories by the University’s staff about over 80 cities throughout Russia and the rest of the world, where the authors used to live and work, and which directly contributed to their personal and academic paths. The book won’t be on sale, but we will give it to you by making a donation to a hospice.

It is no wonder that the end-of-the-year issue of The HSE Look at a research university is about research. In the December issue we give an overview of the Research Productivity Assessment monitoring through an interview with Dmitriy Dagaev. Seminar on Teaching at HSE
On November, 22 International Faculty Support Unit has organized a peer-to peer workshop for international faculty members on teaching at HSE. The seminar enabled newcomers to get acquainted with specifics of the teaching process at HSE, and their more experienced colleagues had an opportunity to share their experience.

HSE St. Petersburg: Finding a Special Focus

HSE has campuses in four cities, and HSE St. Petersburg opened five years after the main campus, in 1997. It has over 4200 students, over 300 faculty members and 100 researchers who focus on different frontline issues in economics, business, humanities, law and social sciences. In 2013 Sergey Kadochnikov,  Doctor of Sciences in Economic Theory and former Director of Graduate School of Economics and Management at Ural Federal Univeristy, joined HSE St. Petersburg as its Director. Prof. Kadochnikov told The HSE Look about what HSE St. Petersburg has achieved, about its international and domestic partners as well as its development plans.

HSE St. Petersburg: Cooperation with German Universities in History Studies

Department of History at HSE St. Petersburg is focusing on a global, comparative and transnational approach to historical studies, and cooperates with several European and American research centers. One of its primary partners is German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), which sponsors a position of an Associate Professor for a German scholar, and Dietmar Wulff, the current resident, told The HSE Lookabout his three years at the department and plans for the future.
